Flight Testing the Boeing 767-400ER in Kona


    In the Spring of 2000, I was fortunate enough to go on a "business" trip to Kona to do some flight testing on the 767-400ER.  My role was essentially ground support, so when the airplane was flying I had plenty of time to scout around the island.  The most impressive thing about Kona was its solitude.  The moment I breathed in that warm, moist, tropical air I felt instantly realaxed.  The main town of Kailua, Kona is a quiet place that has escaped the massive commercialization of some of the other islands.  I'll be going back someday. . .
