The Canadian Rocky Mountains

In October of 2000, I decided to take a little vacation.  Things around Seattle weren't exactly going as well as I'd like them to and I needed to get away from it all.  I'd managed to rack up A LOT of vacation time over the last few years, so it was time to put it to use.   The question was where to go?  I hadn't ever traveled abroad (outside the comfortable confines of the USA), but I knew I wanted to see something new and spectacular.

About the time I was ready to just throw a dart at a map and take off, I heard from a Canadian friend of mine (Dave) who is now living in Wichita, Kansas.  Dave and I worked together at Boeing for a while and he's since moved on to bigger and better things with Learjet.   He was planning a vacation to Calgary, Alberta and wanted me to meet him up there.   The plan was to hit the mountains from Banff to Jasper, and I had no idea what I was in for.  What I saw was truly incredible, to say the least.

The rest of the story is told by the pictures, because I just can't do justice to the incredible beauty and majesty of the Canadian Rockies with words.  The pictures that follow are just a sample of about 300 that I took.  Everywhere I turned there was something else spectacular to take a picture of.  Just click on any picture to enlarge it, then use your browser's 'back' button to close the image.  Enjoy.......
